Port Charlotte, Fla.— The John Jay baseball team was defeated by Medaille College 10-0 at the Snowbird Classic on Friday evening to fall to 0-4 on the young season.
The Bloodhounds were limited to five hits on the evening, including one each by
Dennis Lopez,
Yahnny Arias, John Paul Zinzer,
Wilmer Chavez and
Benjamin Beiro.
Medaille College scored a pair of runs in the top of the first to take the lead. The scored three more in the third and another three in the fourth to knock out Bloodhounds starting pitcher Chavez who suffered the loss after going 3 1/3 innings and allowing eight runs (six earned) on five hits and nine walks.
Ronald Barillas pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and struck out three.
Medaille was led by Jeffrey Cox who was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Brandon Lumadue and Nick Kanutsu scored three times each.
Matt Dunford picked up the win after going seven full innings and allowing three hits while striking out eight.
