New York, N.Y.— The John Jay softball team lost a pair of games on Tuesday afternoon as the Bloodhounds lost to the College of Mount Saint Mary 12-3 and 6-2 at De Witt – Clinton Field.
With the losses, John Jay is now 7-13 overall, while CMSM is 20-11-1.
In the first game, the Bloodhounds engine was slow to develop. The visiting Blue Knights scored eight runs in the top of the first to go ahead 8-0. Lacey Kehlenbeck, who was 3-for-4 with three runs and six runs batted in, blasted a pair of homeruns in the opening frame. She led off the game with a solo shot, then registered a grand slam in her second at bat of the inning.
The Bloodhounds got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the second on a two-run homerun by
Kaitlyn Walsh that scored
Julia Goldberg. Walsh was 2-for-3 in the contest as was teammate Brigitte Martinez.
CMSM got two more runs in the top of the third to go up 10-2, putting pressure on the Bloodhounds to score at least one run to keep the game alive.

Angela Lam to keep the game alive.
But in the top of the sixth, CMSM's Jacquelin Governale ripped a two run shot to put her team ahead 12-3. The game ended after the sixth inning.
In the second game, the Bloodhounds were led by
Krystal Class who was 3-for-3 with a run and a double.
The Blue Knights scored a run in the first and two in the second to lead 3-0 after one and a half innings. CMSM added two more in the fourth and another in the fifth to take a 6-0 advantage.
John Jay's only two runs came in the bottom of the sixth. Class recorded a single to score Martinez before Class scored when Vega reached on a Blue Knight error.
CMSM had 10 hits and was led by Kehlenbeck who was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and an RBI. Governale and Victoria DeMarco added two hits each for the Blue Knights.
