Camden, N.J.— The John Jay baseball team lost 7-2 to Rutgers-Camden University at Campbell's Field on Wednesday afternoon.
With the loss, John Jay is now 7-23 on the season. Rutgers-Camden is now 11-16 overall this season.
The Bloodhounds scattered six hits in the contest and had one each from six of the nine starters.
Rutgers-Camden scored a run in the first and two in the second to lead 3-0 after two frames.
John Jay's lone two runs came in the top of the third. An RBI single by
Corry Harper (1-for-3) scored
Steven Kendrick (1-for-3) who led off the inning with a single. The next batter,
Yahnny Arias (1-for-3), lifted a sacrifice fly that scored
Cosme Munoz (1-for-3) who reached base on a Rutgers-Camden error.
But that was as close as John Jay would get in the contest. The host Scarlet Raptors plated a run each in the fourth and fifth innings before scoring two more in the sixth to push the lead to 7-2.
The Bloodhounds had four pitchers toss two innings each.
Alex Rodriguez suffered the loss after going 2.0 innings and allowing three runs.
John Jay is back in action on Friday for a conference doubleheader against the City College of New York at 10 a.m. on Randall's Island.
