Staten Island, N.Y.— The John Jay softball team was swept in a doubleheader at the College of Staten Island, losing the first game 9-0, before falling in the second game 10-1.
With the losses, John Jay is now 7-15 overall (2-6 CUNYAC).
In the first game, the Bloodhounds had five hits, three of which came off the bat of
Angela Lam who was 3-for-3 with a double. Meanwhile
Nelly Vega was 1-for-2 with a triple, while
Kaitlyn Walsh was 1-for-2 with a single.
After CSI went scoreless in the first inning, the Dolphins tacked on two runs in the second, two more in the third, another in the fourth and four in the fifth to take a nine run lead and win via the mercy rule.
In the second game, CSI scored a run in the first inning to go ahead 1-0. The Dolphins then added three in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.
The Bloodhounds' lone run was scored by
Krystal Class who came home on an RBI single by Walsh.
John Jay had three hits in game two, including one each by Walsh, Lam and
Julia Goldberg.
