Men's Tennis Loses 6-3 Decision to College of Staten Island

Flushing, N.Y.— The John Jay men's tennis team was defeated by the College of Staten Island 6-3 at the National Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon.

With the loss, John Jay is now 4-5 (4-2 CUNYAC) on the season, while the College of Staten Island is 13-4 (6-1 CUNYAC).

The visiting Dolphins took a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches. Dong Shao and Erkut Cakmak were 8-6 winners at No. 1 doubles for the Bloodhounds' lone doubles win.

In singles, four of the six matches went to three sets. At No. 6 singles, M. Nasim Allah Morad was defeated by CSI's Georgio Dano (6-0, 6-0). At No. 4 singles Andreas Pantaloukas of John Jay lost to CSI's Joseph Taranto (6-1, 6-2) to give CSI a 4-1 lead.

Shao at No. 1 singles was a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 winner to pull the Bloodhounds to within 4-2.

But after winning their first sets, Erkut and Stephen Walz both were defeated In three sets. At No. 5 singles, Kelvin Rodriguez was a 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 victor.
