Purchase, N.Y.— The John Jay softball team was swept on the road in a non conference doubleheader at SUNY Purchase on Wednesday losing the first game 10-4 and the second game 13-1.
With the losses, the Bloodhounds fall to 11-19 on the season.
In game one, John Jay had six hits, including one each by
Krystal Class,
Kaitlyn Walsh,
Julia Goldberg,
Marlin Rallas,
Leidy Lopera and Brigitte Martinez. Walsh, Class and Lopera had an RBI each.
The host Panthers scored two in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Bloodhounds countered with a pair in the top of the third to tie it. But SUNY Purchase exploded for eight in the bottom of the third to go up 10-2.
John Jay edged closer in the fourth and fifth innings with a run each before the game ended.
In the second game, SUNY Purchase scored three runs in the first, seven in the second and two in the third to go up 12-0 after three innings.
John Jay's only run was scored in the top of the fourth as
Nelly Vega scored on a fielder's choice grounder by Rallas.
The Panthers, who outhit the Bloodhounds 14-4 in game two, scored another run in the fourth inning to go up by the 13-1 final.
