Men’s Soccer Falls in Season Opener to Kean University

Union, N.J.— The John Jay men's soccer team was defeated by Kean University 5-1 on Thursday afternoon in the 2011 men's soccer season opener.

John Jay's lone goal was scored in the seventy-fifth minute by Navid Allah Morad. The goal came after Kean, with two in the first half and another pair early in the second half, had a 4-0 lead. The host Cougars scored a final goal late in the second half to round out the scoring.

The Bloodhounds outshot Kean University 14-11 overall. John Jay took seven shots in each half and outshot the Cougars 7-5 in the first half and 7-6 in the other stanza.

Allah Morad took a game co-high four shots in the contest for the Bloodhounds.

Steven Marino allowed two goals in the first half, before giving way to reserve goalkeeper Nicholas Todaro in the second half who allowed three.

John Jay returns to action on Friday for a tournament at Frostburg State.
