Pomona, N.J.— The John Jay men's soccer team lost a close one to the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 3-2 on day two of the Seashore Classic hosted by Richard Stockton College.
With the loss, the Bloodhounds fell to 0-6 overall on the year this season. The one goal margin was John Jay's narrowest margins of defeat so far. With the loss, the Bloodhounds are now 0-4 on the season against teams from the tough New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
The Bloodhounds struck first in the contest, scoring at the 3:56 mark on a goal by Abdouleye Diallo. But TCNJ tied the score seven and a half minutes into the game on a score by Dan Lyons.
John Jay reclaimed the lead twenty-four and a half minutes into the game on a strike by
Edward Gonzalez. But the lead lasted just fifty-five seconds as the Lions tied the score on a goal by Kevin Shaw.
The game went into halftime tied at 2-2.
But in the second half, TCNJ scored the stanza's only goal at 68:46 which proved to be the game winner.
John Jay was outshot 23-4 in the contest. All four shots by John Jay were on goal. TCNJ fired 11 shots on goal.
John Jay returns to action on Monday September 12 for a game against SUNY Purchase at 6:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Oval.
