Frostburg, Md.— The John Jay men's soccer team was defeated by Frostburg State College 4-1 in the opening round of the Frostburg State tournament on Friday evening.
With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 0-2 overall this season. Frostburg State is 1-0.
John Jay's lone goal was scored early in the fortieth minute when
Yotam Bloom scored his first goal of the season.
Bloom's goal came after the host Bobcats netted three goals early in the first half.
The Bloodhounds went into halftime down 3-1. Frostburg State scored one more goal in the second half to round out the scoring.
The Bobcats outshot John Jay 22-9 overall in the contest. Bloom and
Edward Gonzalez attempted two shots each in the contest. Frostburg State's Shawn Baker had a team-high eight shots, while Joe Clark scored two of the Bobcats' four goals.
John Jay will face the College of Mount Saint Joseph in the consolation game at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
