Women's Soccer Falls to Rutgers-Newark

Newark, N.J.— The John Jay women's soccer team ran into a highly skilled Rutgers-Newark team and was defeated by the Scarlet-Raiders 9-0 at Alumni Field on Monday evening.

With the loss, John Jay falls back under .500 at 4-5-0 this season.

The host Scarlet-Raiders outshot the Bloodhounds 51-0 overall, including 37-0 in the first half.

Rutgers-Newark's Liana Abreau took 21 shots in the contest, 10 of which were on goal. She scored five goals for the Scarlet-Raiders and added an assist. Meanwhile, Michelle Gromashchuk had two goals and three assists.

Marcelina Kopec stopped a career-high 18 shots in the game.
