Maspeth, N.Y.— The John Jay men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with the Baruch College Bearcats for the entire contest, but fell just short in the end as the Bloodhounds were defeated 2-1 in overtime at the Metropolitan Oval on Wednesday evening.
With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 1-9-2 (1-2-0 CUNYAC) this season.
After a scoreless first half, the visiting Bloodhounds got first run on Baruch by scoring a goal in the seventy-ninth minute when
Korede Griffith knocked in a loose ball that came off a corner kick.
Bryan Kassebaum placed a corner kick that was headed by
Navid Allah Morad, before Girffith put it home.
But the lead did not last long. Just a mere six minutes later, Baruch pulled even when Kyle Keague netted a game tying goal off a corner kick to ultimately send the game into overtime.
Just over three minutes into the extra session, Baruch netted the golden goal when Vincent Cruz of Baruch put it home to seal the victory for the Bearcats.
It was a game that was evenly played all throughout. The Bloodhounds outshot Baruch 17-14. Forward
Edward Gonzalez led all players with five shots in the contest.
Vitecha Vochaon made four saves in net for John Jay, while Michael Murphy made six saves for Baruch.
