Maspeth, N.Y.— The John Jay women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season as the Bloodhounds fell to FDU-Florham 2-0 at the Metropolitan Oval on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, John Jay is now 1-1 on the season, while FDU Florham improves to 1-1 overall.
The visiting Devils got on the board quickly and took a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game as Ashley Viera netted a goal 1:56 into the contest for the first goal of the game. Then just under 10 minutes later, FDU scored again on a goal by Kim Campfield.
Neither team would score in the final seventy-nine minutes.
After a relatively even first half, the Devils applied the pressure in the second half. FDU outshot the Bloodhounds 30-8 in the contest, including 17-1 over the final forty-five minutes of the match. The Devils also took 13 corner kicks to one for the Bloodhounds.
Marcelina Kopec made nine saves for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay is back in action on Tuesday Sept. 6 at Montclair State at 5 p.m.
