Pomona, N.J.— The John Jay men's soccer team was defeated by Richard Stockton College 5-0 on Friday evening on day one of the Stockton Seashore Classic.
With the loss, John Jay is now 0-5 overall this season, while Richard Stockton is now 3-1 this season.
The host Ospreys led 3-0 at halftime as Richard Stockton players Pat Rafferty, Clay Gashlin and Matt Jenne netted one goal each. The Ospreys got the scoring started at the 17:44 mark on Rafferty's goal.
Just 2:57 later, Gashlin's goal put the Osprey's up two. Then with under a minute to go, Jenne scored to give Richard Stockton a comfortable lead.
At 49:19, Raftery scored again as the Ospreys went up 4-0 before a strike by Ali Gomez at 60:33 rounded out the scoring.
John Jay was outshot by the hosts 23-4 overall, including 12-1 in the second half.
Navid Allah Morad took two shots for the Bloodhounds, while
Rashid Allah Morad and
Edward Gonzalez took one each.
In his debut game this evening,
Vitecha Kochaon made 11 saves.
John Jay is back in action on Saturday for day two of the tournament. The Bloodhounds will face the College of New Jersey at 3 p.m.
