Women’s Swimming Beats Brooklyn College

Brooklyn, N.Y.— The John Jay women's swimming team closed out the 2011-12 regular season with a 115-84 win over Brooklyn College on Monday night.
 
The win ends the Bloodhounds' regular season record at 6-3 (4-2 CUNYAC).
 
The Bloodhounds earned wins in six of the 11 races on the evening. After falling behind after losing to Brooklyn in the 200 yard medley relay, Kaili Insalaco and Billie Jean Kuppler swam 1-2 in the 1000 freestyle. Insalaco won the race in 14:32.27, while Kuppler finished in a time of 15:09.67.
 
Vanessa Toro-Plaza earned victory in the 50 yard freestyle (29.61), while Kaylie Bruce captured the victory in the 200 yard individual medley. Bruce won another race when she finished first in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:16.62.
 
In the 100 yard breaststroke, Samantha Valenzuela finished first place in 1:28.99.
 
Then in the final event of the evening, the 200 yard free relay, Toro-Plaza, Catherine Gomez, Kuppler and Insalaco teamed for the victory in 2:06.65.
