Men's Soccer Loses to Richard Stockton

POMONA, N.J.— The John Jay men's soccer team was defeated in a non conference game at Richard Stockton College, 8-0, on Monday evening.
 
John Jay is now 5-9-3 this season.  Richard Stockton improves to 6-7-2.
 
The host Ospreys led 1-0 at halftime before exploding with seven second half goals.
 
Richard Stockton's lone first half goal was scored at the midway point as Tim Sost scored in the twenty-second minute.
 
Then the Ospreys struck early in the second half when Clevon McPhearson found the net with just 1:16 gone by in the stanza to put the Richard Stockton up a pair.
 
Moments later, Evan Pruden netted a goal 12:24 into the second half to put the Ospreys up 3-0. Then Sost scored again, followed by back-to-back goals by Chris Katona to put Richard Stockton up 6-0. Anthony Procopio and Pat Rafferty scored late goals to complete the scoring.
 
Richard Stockton held a 19-7 edge on shots, including 6-2 in the first half and 13-5 in the second half.
 
Kareem Roberts led John Jay with two shots, while Korede Griffith, Ganama Issouf, Nermin Kurtesi, William Ortiz and Fernando Vazquez fired one each.
 
Vitecha Kochaon made four saves in net, playing 67:17, while Steven Merino played 22:43 and made two saves.
 
John Jay is back in action on Friday, Oct. 19 against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at 4 p.m.
