Women's Basketball Loses at Hunter

New York, N.Y.— The John Jay women's basketball team led most of the way and by as much as 14 early in the second half, but vanquished down the stretch as the Bloodhounds lost a critical game on the road to Hunter College 62-54 at the Hunter Sportsplex on Wednesday evening.
 
The host Hawks kept the Bloodhounds scoreless over the final four minutes, and closed out the game on a 14-0 run to take a late lead and win the game.
 
John Jay was led by Jamecia Forsythe with 23 points and nine rebounds. Meanwhile Tyana Hale added 16 points in the game. Allana Beddoe and Kelly Flowers contributed eight rebounds each in the contest.
 
Hunter was led by Johanna Keilwitz with 16 points.
 
The Hawks took the initial lead early in the game. But John Jay countered with a 15-2 run during the middle of the first half to turn and 8-4 deficit into a 19-10 lead with 8:09 to play.
 
The Bloodhounds maintained the lead the rest of the first half and went into halftime up 28-20.
 
John Jay opened the second half on an 8-2 run to take its biggest lead of the night as the Bloodhounds were up 36-22 with 1:50 gone by.
 
The Bloodhounds maintained the lead, while Hunter slowly chipped away throughout the stanza. The Hawks never took the lead until just over two minutes to go when in the midst of the game closing 14-0 run before winning the game.
