Women's Swimming In Third After Day One of Conference Championships

Bronx, N.Y.— The John Jay women's swimming team, after the first day, is currently third of six schools at the 2012 CUNYAC / Applebee's women's swimming championships which are being held a Lehman College. The Bloodhounds have earned 149 points, while Baruch College leads the event with 288 points.
 
In the 200 yard freestyle relay, the Bloodhounds finished ninth of 12 teams as Mollie DeMeio, Jennifer Santanello, Jennifer Calix and Catherine Gomez teamed to finish in 2:16.92.
 
In the 500 freestyle event, Kaili Insalaco finished seventh of 23 swimmers in 6:36.19, while Billie Jean Kuppler was 12th in 7:08.85. DeMeio finished was 18th in 7:57.03, while Gomez was 19th in 8:02.92.
 
In the 200 yard individual medley, Kaylie Bruce was sixth of 14 swimmers in 2:48.42, while Samantha Valenzuela was 11th in 2:57.26.
 
In the 50 yard freestyle, Vanessa Toro-Plaza scored a seventh place finish of 30 participants in 28.64, while Jezebel Erazo was 12th in 29.97. Jennifer Calix was 19th in 36.43, while Jennifer Santanello was 21st in 36.86.
 
The Bloodhounds finished sixth and seventh of 10 respectively in the 400 yard medley relay as the team of Bruce, Erazo, Valenzuela and Insalaco finished sixth in 5:17.56, while Kuppler, Morales, Galeano and Toro-Plaza came home in seventh in 5:30.47.
