RESULTS
Bronx, N.Y.— Two days are in the books, and the John Jay women's swimming team remains in third of six teams at the 2012 CUNYAC / Applebee's women's swimming championship at the Apex Arena on the campus of Lehman College.
The Bloodhounds have 297 points, 43 points ahead of fourth place Lehman College. Baruch College is out in front with 717 points.
Friday's events included the 200 yard medley relay where the Bloodhounds finished eighth and ninth respectively. The A team finished in eighth in a time of 2:19.95 behind the swimming of
Kaylie Bruce,
Jezebel Erazo,
Samantha Valenzuela and
Vanessa Toro-Plaza. The B team finished in a time of 2:32.36 behind the swimming of
Billie Jean Kuppler,
Justina Morales,
Laura Galeano and
Catherine Gomez.
In the 400 yard individual medley, Galeano, John Jay's lone competitor, finished 11th of 14 in 6:34.86.
In the 100 yard butterfly, Valenzuela finished 10th of 16 in 1:21.84. Then in the 200 yard freestyle,
Kaili Insalaco finished seventh of 30 swimmers in 2:25.64, while Toro-Plaza was tenth in 2:34.33. Kuppler finished 13th overall in 2:37.95, while
Justina Morales was 17th in 2:41.98.
Catherine Gomez finished 20th in 2:48.32 and
Mollie DeMeio was 21st in 2:52.33.
In the 100 yard breaststroke,
Jezebel Erazo finished 10th of 17 in 1:30.60, while Morales was 14th in 1:36.31.
The 100 yard backstroke saw
Kaylie Bruce finish fifth of 18 in 1:13.50.
In the final event of the evening, the 400 yard free relay, the A team finished sixth of eight, while the B team finished eighth. The A team consisted of Bruce, Morales, Kuppler and Insalaco, and they finished in 10:25.11. The B team of DeMeio, Galeano, Valenzuela and Gomez finished in 11:58.05.
