Mahwah, N.J.— The John Jay baseball team was defeated on the road as they encountered a hungry Ramapo team as the Bloodhounds lost to the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) powerhouse 31-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The host Roadrunners scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take the initial lead. But Ramapo exploded for 16 runs in the second inning to pull away 18-0 after two innings. Miscues by the John Jay defense allowed the final 11 runs to be unearned.
Ramapo added a run in the fourth, five in the fifth and seven in the seventh to total 31.
John Jay was limited to one hit, which came in the seventh on a single up the middle by
Yahnny Arias.
The Bloodhounds used six pitchers in the contest.
Hugo Carvajal started on the mound and suffered the loss. He went 1.1 innings and allowed five runs on two hits and walked four batters.
Ramapo had 23 hits in the contest. Fourteen of the eighteen Ramapo players who had a plate appearance had at least one hit, and eight players had at least two hits in the game. Catcher, Matthew Hancock went 2-for-2 for the Roadrunners with two runs and five runs batted in.
