Baseball Sweeps Yeshiva in Conference Opener

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 New York, N.Y.— The pitching duo of Braylin Perez and Owen Kimmel allowed a combined zero runs on six hits and struck out 21 batters as the John Jay baseball team successfully rebounded from Tuesday's devastating loss with a sweep over Yeshiva University on Friday morning. The Bloodhounds won game one 7-0 before taking the night cap 11-0 at Pier 40.
 
The wins up John Jay to 4-13 (2-0 CUNYAC) this season, while Yeshiva falls to 0-11 (0-2 CUNYAC).
 
Perez picked up the game one win by going the distance and limiting the host Macabees to two hits and no runs, while fanning 13 batters and walking none. The Macabees had just three base runners in game one.
 
In game two, Kimmel was impressive as well. He pitched the entire game and allowed just four hits and struck out eight. He walked two batters en route to his first NCAA pitching win.
 
Offensively, John Jay had a solid game one performance from Nestor Amarante who was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in. Brian McKenna also had a good opening game going 2-for-3 with a double, two runs and a run batted in.
 
John Jay took the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the second before scoring another two in the sixth to go up 4-0. The Bloodhounds tacked on three insurance runs in the seventh en route to the 7-0 victory.
 
In game two, Yahnny Arias, Erik Pratz, Justin Martinez and Leo Espinal had two runs batted in each. Arias had a pair of hits and scored three times in the win. Pratz had a double and a triple for the Bloodhounds, while McKenna was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
