Patchogue, N.Y.— The John Jay baseball team was defeated by St. Joseph's-Long Island, 11-2, at Alfano Field on Sunday afternoon.
The loss leaves the Bloodhounds at 4-14 overall this season, while St. Joseph's-Long Island improves to 4-8.
John Jay had seven hits in the contest, and three came off the bat of leadoff hitter
Yahnny Arias who was 3-for-4 with a run.
Steven Caracena was 1-for-4 with a homerun, a run and two runs batted in.

Nestor Amarante and
Freddy Rivera added one hit each for the Bloodhounds.
The host Golden Eagles had a big afternoon from Brian Hannigan who was 2-for-5 with a triple, a run and three runs batted in, while Charles Zilnicki was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs.
The Bloodhounds took the early lead in the top of the first when Caracena hit John Jay's first homerun of the season with a one out blast to leftfield that scored Arias who led off the game with a single.
The Golden Eagles though, scored three runs in the bottom of the first to go ahead by a run. St. Joseph's-Long Island scored another in the second and five in the fourth to go up 9-2 after four innings. They tacked on a run in the fifth and another in the eighth for the 11-2 lead.
Corry Harper suffered the loss on the mound for John Jay. He faced the first four batters and allowed a hit, two walks and hit a batter before giving way to Arias and Caracena who pitched four innings each in relief.
Jason Dierkes earned the win after pitching five innings and allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts. Relief pitcher Mike Bazoge tossed four innings of relief and allowed no runs on three hits with five strikeouts and picked up the save.
