Jamaica, N.Y.— The John Jay men's tennis team picked up another win and remain undefeated in conference play as the Bloodhounds defeated CUNYAC foe York College 7-2 at York on Wednesday afternoon.
The win improves John Jay to 5-3 overall this season and 4-0 in CUNYAC play. York meanwhile falls to 1-8 (1-4 CUNYAC) this season.
The Bloodhounds went 2-1 in doubles play as John Jay won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 1,
Erkut Cakmak and
Stephen Walz were 8-1 winners over Ayman Busat and Iheanyi Agbor of York. And at No. 3 singles,
Luis Chirinos and
Frantisek Demek won 8-5 against York's Erick Giron and Justin Mo. York picked up at win at No.2 as Cardinals' Kevon Brown and Gary Reynoso earned an 8-4 victory over
Andreas Pantaloukas and
Kelvin Rodriguez.
In singles play, John Jay won at No.'s 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6. At No.1, Cakmak upped his overall record this season to 8-0 after beating Busat 6-2, 6-1. At No. 3, Chirinos earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Giron. At No. 4, Rodriguez was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Iheanyi. No. 5 singles saw Walz win 6-1, 6-2 over Timoteo Baltazar. And at No. 6 singles, Demek earned a 6-0, 6-0 win against Brown.
