Staten Island, N.Y.— The John Jay baseball team wrapped up its 2012 season with a win on Sunday afternoon as the Bloodhounds beat the College of Mount Saint Vincent (CMSV) 6-4 at the College of Staten Island Baseball Complex.

John Jay ends the season at 10-29 overall for 2012.

The Bloodhounds registered six hits in the season finale, half of which came off the bat of leadoff hitter Yahnny Arias who was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and a pair of runs batted in. Meanwhile Owen Kimmel, Eddie Montanez and Billy Moran had a hit each.

John Jay scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead. After the visiting Dolphins cut the lead in half with a run of their own, the Bloodhounds scored a run each in the second and third innings to go ahead 4-1 after three frames.

The run support proved sufficient for Bloodhound ace pitcher Braylin Perez, who closed out the second with victory number seven to end the year at 7-5. He went six full innings and struck out 10 batters, six of which were looking. He allowed two runs and five scattering hits. Kimmel pitched the final three innings of relief to earn the save.
