MASPETH, N.Y.— The John Jay women's soccer team saw its two game winning streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon after a 4-0 loss to SUNY Purchase at the Metropolitan Oval.
John Jay is now 2-3-0 overall this season, while SUNY Purchase is 1-3-0.
The visiting Panthers scored two goals in the first half and two more in the second half en route to the four goal win.
SUNY Purchase's Abigail Kate had a huge game. She netted three goals and recorded fourteen shots in the contest. Several of her shots missed by only inches, including three which ricocheted off the goal posts.
The Panthers got on the board with their first goal in the sixteenth minute via a penalty kick by Kate. Kate scored again for SUNY Purchase late in the 40th minute when she rebounded her initial shot and hit the back of the mesh in the far right corner.
SUNY Purchase took a three goal lead early in the second half when Samantha Secord put one in the net, before Kate's third goal of the game gave the Panthers a 4-0 lead.
SUNY Purchase held John Jay without a shot in the first half and outshot the Bloodhounds 30-3 in the contest.
Andrea Antoni made 11 saves for the Bloodhounds in the contest.
