Guillen's Three Goals Lifts Women's Soccer over York

MASPETH, N.Y.— Samantha Guillen netted three goals and blasted 13 shots to help the Bloodhounds snap their two game slide as the John Jay women's soccer team opened its conference schedule with a  3-0 win over York College at the Metropolitan Oval on Monday afternoon.
 
The win improves the Bloodhounds to 3-4-0 (1-0-0 CUNYAC) this season, while York is now 1-2-1 (0-1-0 CUNYAC).
 
Guillen connected on her first of three goals early in the game during the seventh minute on a header that came off a pass from Amy Samayoa. Guillen scored again early in the second half, midway through the fifty-fourth minute off a pass from Stephannie Rengifo to put the Bloodhounds up a pair. Guillen completed the hat-trick in the eighty-first minute when she put a loose ball to the back of the mesh to round out the scoring.
 
John Jay dominated the stat sheet. The Bloodhounds held a 26-2 advantage in shots, including 15-0 in the second half. John Jay attempted 11 corner kicks to none for the visiting Cardinals.
 
Andrea Antoni made one save in goal for John Jay, while Kiara Libreros made 10 saves for York.
