Men's Soccer Falls on the Road to CCNY

PURCHASE, N.Y.— The John Jay men's soccer team was defeated on the road Wednesday afternoon, losing to CCNY 2-0 at SUNY Purchase Soccer Field.
 
The loss was the first conference loss of the year for the Bloodhounds who fall to 1-1-2 against CUNYAC opponents this season.
 
The host Beavers scored their two goals in the first half, and both strikes were by Matthew Mbamelu. His first goal came less than two minutes into the contest on a penalty kick. Later in the half, he scored on a breakaway to give CCNY a 2-0 lead.
 
The statistics were relatively even in the game as John Jay held a small 25-21 advantage in shots, while CCNY held a 13-9 edge in shots on goal.
 
Navid Allah Morad took a team-high five shots for the Bloodhounds, while Ratko Rakocevic took three.
 
Vitecha Kochaon made 11 saves in net for the Bloodhounds.
 
John Jay returns to action on Sat. Sept. 29 for a game at Aviator Field against NYU Polytechnic at 2 p.m.
