Glassboro, N.J.— The John Jay men's soccer team was defeated 7-1 on the road Friday night as the Bloodhounds lost to Rowan University in the opening round of the Rowan University tournament.
With the loss, John Jay, now 1-2-0 overall, will play in the consolation game against Vassar College on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
John Jay's lone goal came off the foot of third year player
Navid Allah Morad midway through the first half. The goal cut the Bloodhounds' deficit in half as Rowan opened play by scoring a pair of goals to take an early 2-0 lead.
The host Profs tacked on another goal late in the first half to establish another two goal lead.
Rowan added four unanswered goals in the second half to draw away with the six-goal win. Rowan was led by senior Ryan Gordon with three goals plus an assist.
Rowan held a 26-8 advantage on shots, including 21-4 in the first half, while the Profs owned a slight 4-3 edge on corner kick attempts.
