Women's Swimming Loses at Hunter

NEW YORK, N.Y.— The John Jay women's swimming team was defeated by Hunter College 61-36 at Hunter on Tuesday evening.
 
The loss drops John Jay to 2-4 (2-3 CUNYAC) this season as the Bloodhounds will now turn their attention south as the team heads to San Juan, Puerto Rico for a four day winter training trip. Hunter improves to 5-6 (3-2 CUNYAC).
 
After losing to the host Hawks in the opening race, the 200 yard medley relay, the Bloodhounds claimed first place in the 1000 yard freestyle as Victoria Hsieh was the winner in 13:54.39. A little later Hsieh won again as she took first place in the 200 yard individual medley in 2:42.23. The Torrance, California native completed the trifecta, winning again in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:23.51.
 
John Jay also scored three second place finishes at the meet as Jezebel Erazo was a second place finisher in the 50 yard freestyle in 29.95 as well as the 100 yard butterfly in 1:30.17. Samantha Valenzuela earned second place points in the 100 yard breaststroke, behind Hsieh, in 1:28.95.
