New Rochelle, N.Y – The John Jay women's swim team closed out their regular season with two wins over St. Joseph's Brooklyn and the College of New Rochelle on Friday night, with a score of 48-45 over St. Joseph's Brooklyn and 62-31 over College of New Rochelle.
With the two wins, the Bloodhounds improved their record to 5-5 (2-4 CUNY).
In the win against St. Joseph's Brooklyn, John Jay came in first place in five events.
Mollie DeMeio earned two victories in the 200 yard freestyle (2:39.15) and in the 500 yard freestyle (7:29.79).
Vanessa Toro-Plaza also finished in first place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of (29.19). The Bloodhounds picked up two more wins in the 1000 yard freestyle, as
Victoria Hsieh was victorious with a time of 13:49.93 and Opal Getgavipak earned a win in the 100yard breaststroke (7:40.40).
In the win against College of New Rochelle, the Bloodhounds finished in first place in all but one event.
These two wins closed out their regular season. John Jay returns to action on Thurs. Jan, 31 at 1p.m at Lehman College for the CUNYAC/Emblem Health Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
