Forsythe's Triple-Double Leads Women's Basketball to Win over Medgar Evers

NEW YORK, N.Y.— Jamecia Forsythe recorded a triple-double of 16 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks, while Victoria Story netted a game-high 25 points as the John Jay women's basketball team defeated Medgar Evers College 78-19 at the Doghouse on Tuesday evening.
 
With the win, John Jay improves to 6-6 (4-1 CUNYAC), while Medgar Evers falls to 0-13 (0-5 CUNYAC).
 
John Jay cruised to victory from the outset. With the score tied at 2-2, the Bloodhounds scored nine straight to take an 11-2 lead. The Bloodhounds increased the advantage throughout the half. With John Jay ahead 20-5, the Bloodhounds scored 13 in a row to take a 33-5 lead with 4:15 to go in the first half.
 
John Jay led by as much as 29 before going into halftime ahead by that margin as the Bloodhounds led 39-10 at halftime.
 
The Bloodhounds outscored the Cougars 39-9 in the second half en route to the fifty-nine point win.
 
John Jay outscored Medgar Evers 52-4 on points in the paint and 20-0 on fast break points. The Bloodhounds held a 19-3 advantage on second chance points.
 
John Jay shot a season-high 45.6 percent from the field (36-for-79). Amber Villegas shot 4-for-8 and had eight points with five assists. Simone Victor had nine points in the win, while Terri Chu added five points, five rebounds and four steals. The Bloodhounds earned 30 assists on the season-high 36 made field goals.
 
Medgar Evers was led by Nia Tompkins with seven points, while Jasmine Dossou collected 12 rebounds.
 
John Jay returns to action on Thu. Jan. 10 at Lehman College at 5 p.m.
