RESULTS
JAMAICA, N.Y.— The John Jay women's swimming team opened its 2013 calendar year with a win over conference foe York College 121-54.
John Jay won eight of the 11 races, including both relay events and six of nine individual events.
The Bloodhounds opened the meet by winning the 200 meter medley relay as
Laura Galeano,
Samantha Valenzuela,
Diana Rodriguez and
Jezebel Erazo teamed up to victory in 2:52.80. In next race, Opal Getgenipak earned a win in the 800 meter freestyle in 13:41.46. Then Erazo earned an individual win in the 200 meter freestyle 3:01.64.
John Jay earned a win next in the 200 meter individual medley as Vickie Hsieh was victorious in 3:06.73. Then Erazo won again, winning the 100 meter butterfly in 1:45.64. Then Getganipak earned a win in the 100 meter freestyle in 1:17.46.
After a York victory in the 100 meter backstroke,
Mollie DeMeio earned a win in the 400 meter freestyle 6:16.49.
In the 200 meter relay,
Jenell Stott-Hodge, Getganipak,
Vanessa Toro-Plaza and
Samantha Jones scored first place points in 2:36.11.
