Box Score The women's soccer team shut out Lehman College, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Randall's Island. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 3-10 (2-2 in CUNYAC) and the Lightning drop to 6-7 overall (1-3 in CUNYAC).Â
Early on in the game, both sides had scoring opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net. Late in the first half, freshman
Jessica Jean found a rebound in the box and shot it past Lehman's goalkeeper to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 lead.Â
In the second half, the Lightning intensified the pressure as they fired shots from all angles. However, sophomore
Andrea Antoni and the Bloodhounds defense were able to keep Lehman scoreless. Jean's goal turned out to be the only goal of the game and the Bloodhounds won an important conference match.
"Today was an important game for the team and I am happy we were able to come through," head coach
Kamal Haruna said. "We took a step in the right direction and we need to add to this winning streak."Â
The Bloodhounds will finish out the season on the road starting with Monday, October 14 against Rutgers-Newark. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30pm.Â
