Box Score The women's tennis team finished the 2013 regular season defeating Yeshiva University, 5-4, on Thursday evening at the Binghamton Racquet Club. The Bloodhounds end the season with an overall record of 4-12 (1-6 in CUNYAC). The Maccabees fall to 3-5 on the season.
John Jay took #2 and #3 doubles when the tandems of
Armine Kurkjian/
Lissette Caravantes and
Enida Morina/
Gabriela Baez won their matches, 8-1.
In singles, Kurkjian won at the #1 spot, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Baez defeated her opponent at #3, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Lastly, Morina came back in the third set at #4 to take home the victory for the Bloodhounds. She defeated her opponent, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
"I am proud of the way the team battled back," head coach
Lauren Mallon said. "We need to continue playing solid tennis heading into the postseason."
The Bloodhounds will head into the CUNYAC Quarterfinals as the 7th seed. They will face #2 Brooklyn College on Sunday, October 20, at 11am in Brooklyn.
