Box Score The #5 men's soccer team lost to #4 College of Staten Island in the CUNYAC/Applebee's Quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon in Staten Island. John Jay finished the regular season with an overall record of 4-13-1 (4-4 in CUNYAC) and the Dolphins finished 8-10-1 (5-3 in CUNYAC).
The Bloodhounds end their season with a 4-14-1 overall record.Â
In the first half, the play was even with both teams getting their fair chance of scoring opportunities. Both teams rang each other's crossbars but at the end of the half, the match remained scoreless. CSI outshot the Bloodhounds 7-1 and neither teams goalkeepers recorded a save.Â
In the second half, both teams intensified the pressure. In the 56th minute, Staten Island took the lead after Marcin Klim tipped in a shot from Thomas Vazquez in the box.
Late in the match, a Dolphin player received a red card that gave the Bloodhounds a man advantage. The Bloodhounds had a great chance but the ball rang off the crossbar to solidify a 1-0 win for Staten Island. Â

"Today was a great game between two even teams," head coach Nathan Bell said. "I am very proud of my team despite our early exit. In the beginning of the season, we started off slow but as the season progressed, we grew as a family."
Staten Island will now play on Saturday, November 2 in the semifinals.
