The women's swimming team lost to conference opponent College of Staten Island, 135-64, on Friday evening at the CSI Sports and Rec Center. The Bloodhounds drop to 1-1 (0-1 in CUNYAC) and the Dolphins improve to 3-0 (2-0 in CUNYAC).
Freshman Alyssa Devito had incredible swims for the Bloodhounds. She finished first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 13:34.22 and 500 freestyle with a time of 6:39.42.
The Bloodhounds got second place swims by freshman
Veronika Savina in the 100 freestyle (1:05.12) and the 100 breaststroke (1:19.35). Senior
Nathalie Cuellar swam the 100 backstroke in 1:18.26, good for second place.
"I am very happy with the performance on Friday evening," head coach Jessica Kolackovsky said. "The team fought a tough battle. The tough loss to CSI only motivates my athletes to be better. With personal best times throughout the meet, I have high hopes for Monday's competition."
The Bloodhounds are back at it on Monday, November 4 against the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The match is scheduled to start at 6:00pm in the John Jay Pool.
