Early on in the game, both teams exchanged baskets but the Bloodhounds led 14-9. NJCU responded with a 6-0 run to take a one-point lead. With 8:30 remaining in the half, the score was tied at 19 apiece. Down by two points with a few seconds on the clock, senior Jamecia Forsythe nailed a two-pointer to tie the game heading into the second half.

The Gothic Knights opened up the second half on a 10-0 run. The Bloodhounds cut the lead to seven but later in the half, NJCU went on a 13-2 run to give them a 54-36 lead. John Jay answered with a 6-1 run but the Gothic Knights held on for a 62-56 win.

Forsythe recorded a double-double for John Jay with 13 points (on 5-9 shooting), 11 rebounds, two assists and one block. Juniors Tyana Hale and Kaitlin Fitzgerald both scored 17 points and Hale added five rebounds and three steals.

Sophomore Terri Chu and junior Amanda Jimenez recorded three assists each.

NJCU's Ashley Vazquez scored a game-high 18 points.

"I'm disappointed in tonight's loss," head coach Diane Ramirez said. "Silly mental lapses compounded by an aggressive and hungry NJCU put us in a hole in the 2nd half that we couldn't climb out of. But with that said, I believe our potential is there. I am lucky to have a team that recognizes that we need to clean up the little things and is willing to put in the work to do it."

The Bloodhounds head home for Homecoming as well their first home game of the 2013-2014 season. The game will be on Tuesday, November 26, at the Doghouse. It is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
