The women's basketball team lost to Hunter College, 87-66, on Friday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Bloodhounds fall to 3-6 (1-3 in CUNYAC) on the season while the Hawks improve to 5-6 (2-2 in CUNYAC) overall.
The first half went back-and-forth as both teams exchanged buckets. With less than seven minutes to play in the half, John Jay led by nine but the Hawks responded on a 9-0 run to tie the game. At halftime, Hunter led 45-44.
The second half did not see any points until the 17:21 mark. Just like the first half, both teams began exchanging points. With 10:54 left on the clock, the Bloodhounds trailed by two. The Hawks then went on a 16-4 run, which was the turning point of the game. Hunter would go on to take the conference game by a score, 87-66.
The Bloodhounds were led by
Tyana Hale as the junior scored a game-high 28 points, to go along with six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Freshman
Josephine Diaz and junior Katelyn Fitzgerald scored 12 and nine points, respectively. Senior
Jamecia Forsythe registered a game-high six assists, five points, 11 rebounds, and one block.
Kristen Markoe scored a team-high 26 points for the Hawks. Nicole Lenard recorded 17 points and Ayanna Hudson picked up a game-high 18 boards.
The Bloodhounds will have the rest of the year off and will return for the Moravian Tournament on January 3rd and 4th.
