Baseball Loses Season Opener to Martin Luther

Fort Pierce, Fla.— The John Jay baseball team was defeated by Martin Luther College 11-4 in its 2013 season opener on Friday afternoon.
 
The Bloodhounds had four hits in the contest, including two from Luca Altamirano and one each from Dennis Lopez and Billy Moran.
 
John Jay scored a run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead before Martin Luther scored a pair in the bottom of the second to go ahead 2-1 and lead for good.
 
Moran, who hit a single in the first inning accounted for John Jay's one run driven in. His hit scored Steve Donato, who reached on a walk.
 
Braylin Perez suffered the loss after going 6.2 innings and allowing nine runs (two earned) on seven hits. He struck out eight batters.
