STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The John Jay softball team lost a pair of conference games on Saturday afternoon as the Bloodhounds lost to the College of Staten Island 17-1 and 10-0 at the CSI Softball Complex.
CSI, who served as the visiting team for the games, scored five quick runs in the top of the first, followed by an 11 run second inning to go ahead 16-0 after one and a half innings.
John Jay's lone run of game one came in the bottom of the third when
Kalyssa Daley doubled to left field to score
Jamie Lam who doubled earlier in the inning.
Daley was 1-for-3 with a double and a run batted in, while Lam went 2-for-2 with a run. John Jay's other hit was a single by
Kaylee Fry.
CSI had 17 hits in the first game, four of which were triples. Christina Tufano was 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs and four runs batted in, while five other players had two hits each.
In the second game, CSI scored runs in each of the first four innings to lead 10-0 after three and a half frames. The Dolphins scored one in the first, three in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth.
Leidy Lopera led John Jay with two hits and was 2-for-2 in the contest.
Sara McKenna also had a hit for the Bloodhounds as John Jay had three hits in the night cap.
CSI was led by Maxine Jasko who was 3-for-3 with two runs and a run batted in. Stefanie Solari was 2-for-3 with two runs and two runs batted in.
