Softball Loses Doubleheader to Farmingdale State

FARMINGDALE, N.Y.— The John Jay softball team was defeated in both games of a doubleheader at Farmingdale State College on Wednesday afternoon losing by scores of 11-2 and 9-1. Both games ended five the five inning eight-run rule.
 
In the first game, the Bloodhounds took a 2-0 lead with one swing of the bat as Kaylee Fry blasted her team-leading fourth home run of the season. It was a two-run shot with two outs.
 
But Farmingdale State retired the final 13 batters, and John Jay never had another base runner after the first inning.
 
In game two, the host Rams scored three runs in the bottom of the first to lead 3-0 after one inning. Farmingdale State followed with two runs in the second and three in the third to lead 8-0 after three innings.
 
John Jay got on the board with the run in the top of the fifth to cut the deficit to 8-1. A single by Kalyssa Daley scored Leidy Lopera. But with runners on first and second and two outs, the final out was recorded.
 
The Rams got the extra run they needed in the bottom of the fifth to go back ahead by eight to win the contest 9-1.
