Men's Tennis Set for Conference Playoffs

New York, N.Y – After an 11-3 overall record in the regular season, including a 5-2 mark in CUNYAC, the John Jay men's tennis team is set for a run at the championship. The Bloodhounds have earned the No. 3 seed in the 2013 Hospital for Special Surgery/ CUNYAC Men's Tennis Championship where they will play No. 6 seed the City College of New York in the opening round on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the National Tennis Center.

With a win there, John Jay will advance into the semifinal round on Sunday to face the winner between No. 2 seed College of Staten Island and No. 7 seed Lehman College at 3 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center. If the Bloodhounds advance, they will play for the CUNYAC Championship on Thursday May 2 at 5 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center.

This season in singles, Erkut Cakmat has led the way for the Bloodhounds going 11-3 overall and 4-3 in CUNYAC play, while playing at No. 1. Yevgeniy Remennik was 10-3 overall and 5-2 in CUNYAC. In doubles, Tomas Montes De Oca and Cakmat went undefeated this year as they were 7-0 overall and 4-0 in CUNYAC. Remennik and Luis Chirinos had an outstanding year as they went 8-5 overall and 5-2 in CUNYAC.

John Jay's most recent and final conference win was against City College of New York, when John Jay downed the Beavers 9-0 to earn the higher seed for the tournament.
