Baseball Loses Non Conference Game at the College of Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The John Jay baseball team was defeated by the College of Staten Island (CSI) in a non conference affair on Sunday afternoon, 15-3, at Morales Stadium.
 
The loss leaves John Jay at 6-25 overall this season.
 
The host Dolphins scored at least one run in each of the eight innings they batted in. CSI scored a run in the first, another in the second and another in the third, before getting four in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the sixth. The Dolphins then got three in the seventh and another three in the eighth to cap off a 15 run afternoon.
 
CSI led 2-0 after the second inning before John Jay scored a pair of runs in the top of the third to tie it. First Erik Pratz, who singled earlier in the inning, scored on a wild pitch. Then a ground out by Dennis Lopez scored Esteban Soler, who was 3-for-4 on the afternoon to account for three of the five hits by the Bloodhounds.
 
John Jay's other run came in the top of the sixth on a double by Nico Rivera that scored Jose Fernandez.
 
CSI, now 26-11 overall, had 18 hits, and the Dolphins were led by Will DiFede who was 4-for-6 with six runs batted in.
 
Chris Cracchiolo suffered the loss after going 6.0 innings and allowing nine runs (eight earned) on 13 hits.
 
John Jay is back in action on Tuesday for a game at Albertus Magnus College at 6 p.m.
