STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The John Jay baseball team was swept in a doubleheader by the College of Staten Island in a conference doubleheader, losing the first game 8-3, before falling in the second game 4-2.
In the first game, John Jay led 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, before the host Dolphins exploded for six runs to take the lead en route to the win.
Ronald Barillas led the Bloodhounds in game one with two hits, as he was 2-for-2 with a run.
In the second game, the Bloodhounds scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning to lead 2-0 after a half inning.
CSI scored a run in the bottom of the first to cut the lead in half. Then the Dolphins scored three in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead, which turned out to be the final score.
The Bloodhounds had four hits in the second game, two of which came off the bat of
Dennis Lopez, who was 2-for-4 with a run.
