The women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss on Sunday afternoon to conference opponent CCNY at the CSI Soccer Complex. The Bloodhounds fall to 0-2 on the season while the Beavers improve to 1-1.
For much of the first half, the game remained scoreless with both teams getting chances. Thirty minutes into the half, CCNY's Vivian Vazquez broke free from John Jay defenders and made a pass to Yanique Newman who tipped it in to give CCNY an early 1-0 lead. The Beavers added an insurance goal towards the end of the half when Vazquez scored on a breakaway.

Katelyn Davis had a stellar game in net. She finished with 11 saves and kept the Bloodhounds in the game. Offensively, John Jay was led by sophomore
Daniela Molina, who finished with two shots including a shot on goal. Junior Alexis Ochoa, sophomores
Xochitl Ariza and
Samantha Guillen along with freshman
Alexandra Begun each recorded a shot.
"Our team worked really hard and competed throughout the entire game," said fourth-year head coach
Kamal Haruna. "Katelyn (Davis) was outstanding and we are continuing to get better as a team."
The Bloodhounds are back on the road for a match against Polytechnic University of NYU at Aviator Field in Brooklyn. Game is scheduled to start at 7pm.
