Box Score The women's soccer team fell to SUNY Purchase College, 1-0, on Monday night in Purchase. The Bloodhounds drop to 2-4 (1-0 in CUNYAC) in 2013 while the Panthers improve to 3-5.
The game was scoreless through the first half as Purchase was able to muster 11 shots. Sophomore
Andrea Antoni recorded eight saves in the half to keep John Jay in the game. Going into the second half, the Panthers continued pouring on the shots but were unable to get one past Antoni. Finally, in the 82nd minute, Purchase's Annette Elson scored off a deflection to give her team a 1-0 lead. That was all they needed as the Bloodhounds were not able to record a shot.
Antoni finished with 13 saves on the night.
"Tonight, the team worked really hard," head coach
Kamal Haruna said. "It was tough to give up a goal with 10 minutes left, but we continue to believe in ourselves and will get positive results in the near future."
The Bloodhounds will look to regroup on Wednesday, September 25 when they play conference opponent City College. The game will be played at Randall's Island.
