Women's Soccer Suffers Defeat Against City College

Box Score The women's soccer team was defeated by the City College Beavers, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds drop to 2-5 (1-1 in CUNYAC) in 2013 while the Beavers improve to 6-2 (2-0 in CUNYAC).

For the first ten minutes of play, the competition and stats were even with both teams getting limited scoring opportunities. However, the Beavers would score three goals in a 6:20 span to lead 3-0. City College added another goal to close out the half leading by four.

In the second half, the Bloodhounds had very few chances as the Beavers played strong defense. CCNY was able to tack on another goal to give them a 5-0 victory. John Jay recorded four shots on the afternoon and Liliana Bonilla registered a shot on goal. Sophomore Andrea Antoni picked up three saves for the Bloodhounds.

CCNY was led by Emily Ramos and Viviana Vazquez, who scored two goals each. Goalkeeper Nicole Carroll picked up a shutout with one save.

"Tonight was a tough game for the team," head coach Kamal Haruna said. "We need to forget about this one and start preparing for our upcoming schedule."

The Bloodhounds are back in action on Saturday, September 28 when they head up to Manhattanville College for a match at 2:00pm.
