Box Score The women's soccer team lost to St. Josephs College of Long Island, 2-0, on Monday afternoon at Randall's Island. The Bloodhounds drop to 2-7 (1-1 in CUNYAC) on the season while the Golden Eagles improve to 6-4.

For much of the game, the Golden Eagles controlled the ball on John Jay's side but the Bloodhounds played stingy defense to limit many scoring chances.

Two minutes into the game, St. Joseph's Jennifer Martino scored in the box on an assist by Gina Guardino and Jessica Cardona. Later in the half, Martino added her second goal of the game to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead heading into the half. Heather Nolan and Kathryn Condron got credited with the assists.

The second half saw the Screaming Eagles getting many scoring chances but sophomore goalkeeper Andrea Antoni prevented all of the shots from entering the back of the net.

The best player on the field for the Bloodhounds was Antoni. She made nine saves in the first half and finished with 24 saves on the day. She kept the game close and gave the Bloodhounds an opportunity to come back.

Freshman Alexandra Begun recorded John Jay's lone shot of the contest.

"The Golden Eagles are a very tough and disciplined team to play against," head coach Kamal Haruna said. "Andrea Antoni made some remarkable saves and gave our team a chance to compete."

The Bloodhounds will continue their home stand on Saturday, October 5 when they face the Dolphins of CSI. The match is scheduled to start at 12:00pm.
