Box Score Old Westbury, NY – The John Jay men's soccer team fell to Old Westbury in the Panthers' season opener tonight, 2-1. The Bloodhounds are now 0-3 (0-0 CUNYAC), while Old Westbury improves to 1-0 on the season.
John Jay scored first in the game, as junior
Christian Munoz scored his first goal of the season at the 26:39 mark.
Pablo Rojas had the assist on the play. Old Westbury scored soon after that on a goal by Scott Carey, followed by another Panther goal three minutes later by Michael Bayne, to put Old Westbury up 2-1.
The game saw 33 shots on goal, 21-12 in favor of Old Westbury. John Jay goalkeeper,
Andrew Berman had a total of six saves on the game, while Old Westbury's Marcelo Guardado had five.
"Although the team suffered a bit for loss of focus during the first half of the game tonight, I am confident that we will begin to work to reach the level that we are aiming for," said head coach Nathan Bell.
The Bloodhounds' next game will be their first home game of the season as they will face Western Connecticut State on Saturday, September 7th at 2 p.m. at Randall's Island Field 73.
