Box Score The women's basketball team fell to Hunter College, 70-61, on Wednesday evening at the Doghouse. With the loss, the Bloodhounds drop to 6-13 overall and 4-7 in CUNYAC. The Hawks improve to 9-11 on the season and 6-5 in the conference.
John Jay got off to an early lead in the first half but Hunter took the lead with 14 minutes remaining in the half. The Bloodhounds regained the lead later on and led 22-14 with seven minutes left to go. The Hawks tied the game with just under two minutes remaining. Heading into the second half, the score was tied at 26 apiece.
Hunter led off the second half on a 15-0 run to give them a 41-26 lead. John Jay trimmed the lead to five but the visitors would take the conference game by a score of 70-61.
Sophomores
Terri Chu and
Amber Villegas led the Bloodhounds with 12 points and three rebounds each. Senior
Jamecia Forsythe recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Junior
Tyana Hale registered eight points and five rebounds. Junior
Amanda Jimenez added a team-high three steals.
Hunter's Nicole Lenard led all scorers with 20 points, seven assists, seven rebounds, and two steals. Kristen Sells added 15 points, five rebounds, and two steals.
The Bloodhounds will head to York College on Friday, January 31 for a conference game at 6:00pm.
