Box Score The women's basketball team defeated York College, 69-38, on Friday evening in Jamaica, NY. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 7-13 overall and 5-7 in CUNYAC. The Cardinals drop to 2-17 overall and 1-10 in the conference.
John Jay used a strong first half to put the game out of reach. The Bloodhounds recorded 45 points while the home team scored nine points.
Senior
Jamecia Forsythe and junior
Amanda Jimenez registered double-doubles. Forsythe finished with a game-high 16 points and 14 rebounds (seven offensive) to go along with three assists, one steal, and one block. Jimenez recorded 15 points (11 of them at the free-throw line) 11 rebounds, three assists, and a game-high five steals. Sophomore
Tamara Jones fell one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Junior
Aneska Tejada scored 10 points and freshman
Josephine Diaz added three assists.
York was led by Stayce Kay Muirhead, who recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Angelika Ruggiano picked up eight points, four assists, and four steals.
The Bloodhounds will return to the Doghouse on Monday, February 3rd, when they host Medgar Evers at 5:00pm.
